Safety Information

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory: helmet with visor and hearing protection, protective gloves, protective trousers with cut protection, and safety boots.

  1. Always hold the chainsaw with both hands. Right hand on rear handle, left hand on front handle.
  2. Never operate above shoulder height.
  3. Ensure the chain brake is functioning correctly before each use.
  4. Keep bystanders and animals at least 15 meters away.
  5. Be aware of kickback zone – upper quadrant of guide bar tip.

WARNING! A chainsaw is a dangerous tool if used incorrectly. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. Never use a chainsaw if you are tired, ill, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble on a clean, stable surface.

  1. Attach the guide bar and chain: Loosen bar nuts, fit bar over studs, loop chain over sprocket and onto bar groove, tension chain, tighten bar nuts.
  2. Fill with fuel: Use a clean fuel can. Use Husqvarna 2-stroke engine oil mixed with unleaded gasoline (50:1 ratio). Shake well before filling.
  3. Fill with chain oil: Use Husqvarna chain oil or equivalent. Do not use waste oil.
  4. Check chain tension: Chain should be snug against the bar but pull freely by hand.

CAUTION! Fuel is highly flammable. Refuel outdoors, with engine stopped and cooled. Wipe off any spillage.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main Controls: Front handle with chain brake, Rear handle with throttle trigger and lockout, Stop switch, Choke control, Primer bulb (if equipped), Throttle latch, Decompression valve (if equipped).

Safety Features: Chain brake (manual/inertia), Right hand guard, Chain catcher, Throttle trigger lockout.

Maintenance Points: Air filter cover, Spark plug, Cylinder cover, Chain tensioner, Oil pump adjustment screw.

Starting & Stopping the Engine

Cold Start:

  1. Activate chain brake by pushing front hand guard forward.
  2. Set choke control to full choke position.
  3. Press primer bulb 4-6 times (if equipped).
  4. Place saw on ground, hold firmly with left hand on front handle, right foot in rear handle.
  5. Pull starter handle slowly until resistance is felt, then pull briskly. Repeat until engine fires.
  6. Move choke control to half-throttle position. Pull starter handle again to start.
  7. Blip throttle to disengage fast idle. Release chain brake.

Warm Start: Do not use choke. Follow steps 1, 4, 5, and 7.

Stopping: Release throttle, press and hold the stop switch until engine stops.

Operation & Cutting Techniques

Always use full throttle when cutting. Let the chain do the work; do not force it.

  1. Felling: Plan escape path (45-degree angle backwards). Make notch cut (1/3 of tree diameter), then felling cut. Use felling wedge if needed.
  2. Limbing: Stand on left side of trunk. Cut branches from top side. Beware of spring-back.
  3. Bucking (Cross-cutting): Support log properly. Cut from top side when log is supported on both ends. Use undercut for logs on the ground to avoid pinching.
  4. Kickback Prevention: Maintain a firm grip, do not cut with bar tip, keep chain sharp and properly tensioned.

Tip: Regularly check chain sharpness. A dull chain increases effort and risk.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
Daily / Before useCheck chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Check all controls and safety devices. Clean air filter. General inspection for damage/loose parts.
Weekly / 5 hoursClean cooling fins and cylinder cover. Check spark plug condition and gap (0.5 mm / 0.020"). Clean fuel filter.
Monthly / 20 hoursClean carburetor air intake. Check fuel line for cracks. Clean exterior of carburetor.
Annually / 100 hoursReplace fuel filter and spark plug. Check clutch drum and sprocket for wear. Have compression and carburetor adjustment checked by authorized dealer.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Sharpening: Use a round file matching chain pitch (e.g., 4.0 mm for 3/8" Mini). File each cutter from inside out at recommended angle (typically 30°). Maintain equal length on all cutters. File depth gauges with a flat file and gauge.

Tensioning: Loosen bar nuts. Turn tensioning screw clockwise until chain is snug against bar but can be pulled around by hand. Tighten bar nuts while lifting bar tip. Re-check tension.

CAUTION! Always wear protective gloves when handling chain. A sharp chain is safer than a dull one.

Storage

For storage longer than 30 days:

  1. Empty fuel tank and run engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
  2. Remove spark plug, add a teaspoon of engine oil into cylinder, pull starter cord slowly to distribute oil, reinstall plug.
  3. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  4. Remove chain and bar, clean and oil them. Store chain in oil.
  5. Store in a dry, clean, and locked place, out of reach of children.

WARNING! Storing with fuel in the tank can cause carburetor damage from gum deposits.

Troubleshooting

SymptomPossible CauseCorrective Action
Engine will not startNo fuel, flooded engine, faulty spark plug, clogged air/fuel filter, choke setting wrongCheck fuel, dry spark plug, replace if faulty, clean/replace filters, follow correct starting procedure.
Engine starts but stopsDirty air filter, clogged fuel filter, carburetor adjustment, faulty ignitionClean air filter, replace fuel filter, have carburetor adjusted by dealer.
Engine lacks powerClogged air filter, dull chain, carbon build-up in muffler, incorrect fuel mixClean air filter, sharpen chain, clean muffler spark arrestor, use correct 50:1 mix.
Chain does not turnChain brake engaged, clutch worn, sprocket worn, drive link damageDisengage chain brake, inspect clutch, sprocket, and chain for wear/damage.
Poor chain lubricationEmpty oil tank, clogged oil channel, incorrect oil viscosityFill tank, clean oil outlet hole and bar groove, use recommended chain oil.
Excessive vibrationLoose components, unbalanced chain, damaged anti-vibration mountsTighten all nuts/bolts, balance chain by sharpening evenly, inspect mounts.
