Safety Instructions

Read and understand all safety instructions before operating the mower. Failure to follow warnings may result in serious injury or death.

  1. Always wear sturdy footwear, eye protection, and long pants while operating.
  2. Clear mowing area of debris, toys, and other objects before starting.
  3. Never allow children or untrained persons to operate the mower.
  4. Do not mow on steep slopes or wet grass to prevent loss of control.
  5. Always disengage the PTO (blades) and set parking brake before dismounting.

DANGER! Keep hands and feet away from rotating blades and moving parts. Never attempt to unclog or adjust the deck with the engine running.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assembly requires basic tools and may require two people for heavy components.

  1. Install the steering wheel and connect the steering linkage as per diagram.
  2. Attach the seat by aligning bolts with frame and tightening securely.
  3. Install the battery: Connect red (+) cable first, then black (-) cable.
  4. Check tire pressure and inflate to recommended PSI (listed in Specifications).
  5. Add engine oil and fuel (refer to engine manual for type and capacity).

CAUTION! Ensure all bolts and connections are tight before first use. Do not attempt to start the engine before completing assembly and adding fluids.

Controls & Operation

Familiarize yourself with all controls before starting the engine.

Dashboard/Controls: Ignition Key, PTO Engage Lever, Throttle/Choke, Parking Brake Lever, Hydrostatic Drive Pedals (Forward/Reverse), Deck Lift Lever, Hour Meter, and Headlight Switch.

Starting Procedure: 1. Sit on seat. 2. Set parking brake. 3. Disengage PTO. 4. Move throttle to choke/start position. 5. Turn ignition key. 6. After starting, adjust throttle to operating speed.

Mowing: Engage PTO lever slowly to start blades. Use drive pedals to control speed and direction. Overlap cutting passes slightly for even results.

Shutdown: 1. Disengage PTO. 2. Set parking brake. 3. Move throttle to slow/idle. 4. Turn ignition key to OFF. 5. Remove key.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance is crucial for safety and performance. Refer to engine manual for specific engine service.

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck tire pressure, fluid levels, and for loose parts/debris.
Every 8 hoursCheck mower deck for grass buildup; clean if necessary.
Every 25 hoursCheck battery terminals; clean and tighten. Lubricate deck spindles and pivot points.
Every 50 hoursChange engine oil (or annually). Check air filter; clean/replace. Sharpen blades.

Blade Care & Replacement

Sharp, balanced blades are essential for a clean cut and healthy lawn.

  1. Disconnect spark plug wire for safety.
  2. Raise deck to highest position and block securely.
  3. Remove deck (if necessary) or access blades through deck openings.
  4. Use a wrench to remove blade bolt (note rotation direction for reinstallation).
  5. Sharpen blade evenly, maintaining original angle. Check balance using a blade balancer.
  6. Reinstall blade with cutting edge towards ground. Torque bolt to specification.

WARNING! Always replace bent or cracked blades. Never weld or straighten a damaged blade.

Engine Maintenance

Refer to the separate engine owner's manual for detailed procedures.

Storage & Winterization

Proper storage prevents fuel system damage and corrosion.

  1. Add fuel stabilizer to a full tank and run engine for 5 minutes to circulate.
  2. Change engine oil (dirty oil contains acids that can damage engine).
  3. Remove battery, clean terminals, and store fully charged in a cool, dry place.
  4. Clean entire mower thoroughly, especially the underside of the deck.
  5. Store in a clean, dry place, preferably covered.

Tip: Consider fogging the engine cylinder through the spark plug hole for long-term storage (see engine manual).
