Assembly Instructions

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on a flat, stable surface.

  1. Attach handle: Align lower handle with deck brackets, secure with provided bolts and wing nuts.
  2. Install upper handle: Connect to lower handle, tighten knobs.
  3. Attach grass bag: Slide bag frame onto rear deck hooks; ensure secure fit.
  4. Install side discharge chute (if not pre-installed): Snap into place on deck opening.
  5. Check oil and fuel: Add engine oil (SAE 30, 20 oz) and unleaded gasoline (87 octane minimum).

WARNING! Wear gloves during assembly. Ensure all fasteners are tight before operation.

First-Time Operation

Before starting, read safety instructions. Perform pre-operation checks.

  1. Check oil level: Ensure oil is at full mark on dipstick.
  2. Add fuel: Use fresh unleaded gasoline; fill to indicated level.
  3. Adjust cutting height: Set lever to desired position (start at 2.5 inches).
  4. Select cutting mode: Install mulch plug, bag, or side discharge chute as needed.
  5. Start engine: Set throttle to FAST, pull recoil starter firmly.
  6. Engage drive: Squeeze drive control lever to self-propel; adjust speed with variable control.

CAUTION! Clear mowing area of debris. Do not operate on slopes greater than 15 degrees.

Cutting System Setup

Configure for mulching, bagging, or side discharge.

  1. Turn off engine and disconnect spark plug wire.
  2. For mulching: Install mulch plug in rear discharge opening.
  3. For bagging: Remove mulch plug, attach grass bag frame to rear hooks.
  4. For side discharge: Remove mulch plug, install side discharge chute on deck opening.
  5. Ensure all attachments are securely fastened before operation.

Tip: Mulch for nutrient recycling; bag for clean appearance; side discharge for tall/wet grass.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends mower life.

  1. Before each use: Check oil level, inspect blade for damage, clear deck of debris.
  2. Every 25 hours: Change engine oil (SAE 30), clean/replace air filter.
  3. Every 50 hours: Replace spark plug, sharpen or replace blade.
  4. Seasonally: Clean underside of deck, lubricate wheel axles and height adjustment points.
  5. Storage: Drain fuel or add stabilizer, store in dry location.

WARNING! Always disconnect spark plug before performing maintenance.

Storage Guidelines

Prepare mower for off-season storage to prevent damage.

  1. Clean thoroughly: Remove grass clippings and debris from deck and engine.
  2. Fuel management: Run engine dry or add fuel stabilizer to full tank.
  3. Oil change: Replace oil if due per maintenance schedule.
  4. Blade care: Sharpen blade and apply light oil to prevent rust.
  5. Storage location: Store in cool, dry place, preferably covered.

CAUTION! Do not store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days without stabilizer.
