Safety Instructions
Important Safety Symbols:
- ⚠️ Warning: Risk of serious injury or death
- ☠️ Danger: Risk of fatal injury
- 🔥 Fire Hazard: Risk of fire or explosion
- 👂 Hearing Protection: Required during operation
- 👁️ Eye Protection: Required during operation
General Safety Rules
- Read Manual: Read and understand all instructions before operating.
- Protective Equipment: Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, long pants, and sturdy shoes.
- Clear Area: Clear mowing area of stones, sticks, wire, and other objects that could be thrown.
- Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from mowing area.
- Slope Operation: Mow across slopes, not up and down. Use extreme caution on inclines.
- Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors only, when engine is cool. Never smoke near fuel.
- Hot Components: Allow engine to cool before storing or performing maintenance.

Operation Guide
Starting Procedure
1. Check oil level
2. Fill fuel tank
3. Prime engine (if equipped)
4. Set throttle to fast position
5. Pull starter cord smoothly
Cutting Height Adjustment
Adjust cutting height using levers on each wheel. Recommended heights: 2-3 inches for most grasses, 3-4 inches during hot/dry conditions.
Mowing Patterns
Alternate mowing direction each time to prevent grass from leaning in one direction. Overlap each pass by 2-3 inches for even cutting.
Slope Mowing
Mow across slopes, not up and down. Use extreme caution on inclines over 15 degrees. Do not mow wet grass on slopes.
Cutting Techniques
Regular Maintenance
Mow when grass reaches 1/3 higher than desired height. Never remove more than 1/3 of grass blade at once.
Mulching
Install mulching plug for nutrient recycling. Best for dry conditions and frequent mowing.
Bagging
Use collection bag for wet grass or when clippings are excessive. Empty bag when 2/3 full.
Side Discharge
For tall or wet grass. Direct discharge away from buildings, roads, and people.

- Oil Change: Change engine oil at end of season
- Battery: Remove battery, store in cool dry place, charge monthly
- Blade: Remove, sharpen, and coat with oil to prevent rust
- Storage Location: Store in dry, covered area
Spring Preparation
- Change engine oil
- Install sharpened blade
- Check tire pressure
- Test safety features
- Lubricate moving parts
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Engine won't start | No fuel, old fuel, spark plug issue, safety switch engaged | Check fuel, replace if old, check spark plug, ensure all safety switches are properly engaged |
| Engine runs poorly | Dirty air filter, bad fuel, clogged fuel line | Clean/replace air filter, drain old fuel, check fuel line |
| Uneven cutting | Dull blade, uneven tire pressure, bent blade | Sharpen or replace blade, check tire pressure, inspect blade for damage |
| Excessive vibration | Unbalanced blade, loose parts, bent crankshaft | Balance or replace blade, tighten all bolts, check crankshaft |
| Loss of power | Clogged deck, dragging brake, engine issues | Clean deck underside, adjust brake, check engine compression |
| Won't self-propel | Drive belt worn, drive cable needs adjustment | Replace drive belt, adjust drive control cable |
Common Issues and Solutions
- Hard Starting: Use fresh fuel, check choke operation, verify spark
- Poor Cut Quality: Sharpen blade, maintain proper speed, don't cut wet grass
- Engine Stalls: Clean carburetor, check fuel filter, adjust governor
- Excessive Noise: Check for loose parts, worn bearings, damaged blade
- Oil Leaks: Check gaskets, drain plug, crankcase breather
- Electrical Issues: Check battery connections, safety switches, wiring
