Safety Instructions
Read all instructions before assembly and operation. Failure to follow safety rules may result in serious injury.
- Personal Safety: Wear sturdy footwear and eye protection. Do not operate barefoot or in sandals.
- Clear Area: Remove stones, sticks, wires, and other objects from the lawn before mowing.
- Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors only, with engine off and cool. Use fresh unleaded petrol. Never smoke near fuel.
- Operation: Mow across slopes, not up and down. Be extra careful when changing direction. Do not mow in reverse unless necessary.
- Children & Pets: Keep bystanders, especially children and pets, away from the mowing area.
- Maintenance: Disconnect spark plug wire before performing any maintenance or clearing blockages.
WARNING! The blade is sharp and rotates at high speed. Never insert hands or feet near the cutting deck while the engine is running.
Assembly & Setup
Most major components are pre-assembled. Follow these steps to complete setup.
- Unpack: Remove all packaging materials and check contents against the parts list.
- Attach Handle: Position the lower handle sections onto the mower deck. Secure with the provided bolts and wing nuts. Attach the upper handle section and secure.
- Install Grass Collector: Slide the fabric grass collector bag onto its support frame at the rear of the mower. Ensure it clicks securely into place.
- Adjust Cutting Height: Set the central lever to your desired cutting height (recommend starting at a higher setting).
- Add Oil & Fuel: Fill the engine with the recommended SAE 10W-30 oil to the correct level on the dipstick. Add fresh unleaded petrol to the fuel tank.
CAUTION! Do not start the engine without first adding the correct amount of oil, as this will cause severe engine damage.

Controls and Operation
Familiarize yourself with the controls located on the handle before starting.
Handle Controls:
- Drive Control Lever: Located on the upper handle. Squeeze and hold to engage drive wheels. Release to stop drive.
- Throttle Control: Sets engine speed (CHOKE/START, FAST, SLOW).
- Blade Control Lever: Must be held against the handle to keep the blade engaged. Release to stop the blade.
- Starter Grip: Pull to start the engine.
- Primer Bulb: Press 3-5 times for a cold start.
Starting Procedure:
- Move throttle control to CHOKE position (cold engine).
- Press primer bulb 3-5 times.
- Stand behind mower, hold blade control lever against handle.
- Pull starter grip briskly. After engine starts, move throttle to FAST.
- For a warm engine, start with throttle at FAST, no choke or primer needed.
Cutting Height Adjustment
Adjust the cutting height to suit grass conditions and season.
- Stop the engine and ensure the blade has completely stopped.
- Locate the central adjustment lever near the wheels.
- Pull the lever outward and move it to the desired notch (1-6, where 1 is lowest/shortest cut).
- Release the lever to lock the height. Ensure all wheels are at the same height for an even cut.
Tip: Cut only the top third of the grass blade. For the first cut of the season or very long grass, use the highest setting, then gradually lower it.
Maintenance & Care
Regular maintenance ensures long life and optimal performance.
- After Each Use: Clean grass clippings from the underside of the deck (with engine off and spark plug disconnected). Empty and clean the grass collector.
- Air Filter: Check before each use. Clean foam filter with warm soapy water, dry, and lightly oil. Replace paper filter if dirty.
- Oil Change: Change engine oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 25 hours or seasonally. Drain oil when engine is warm.
- Spark Plug: Check and clean every 25 hours. Replace annually or if worn.
- Blade Sharpening/Balancing: Sharpen the blade at least once per season or if cut quality deteriorates. Always disconnect spark plug. A balanced blade is essential to prevent vibration.
- Wheels & Bearings: Check for wear and lubricate if necessary.
CAUTION! Always disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance on the blade or underside of the deck.
Storage Guidelines
Proper storage at the end of the season prevents problems.
- Fuel: Option A: Add fuel stabilizer to the tank and run the engine for 5 minutes to circulate it. Option B: Run the engine until it stops to empty the carburetor and fuel tank.
- Oil: Change the oil while the engine is warm (see Maintenance).
- Cleaning: Thoroughly clean the mower, especially the cutting deck and air intake areas.
- Blade: Consider sharpening the blade before storage so it's ready for next season.
- Storage Location: Store in a clean, dry place, protected from the elements. Cover the mower.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Possible Cause | Corrective Action |
| Engine will not start | No fuel, stale fuel, choke not set, spark plug faulty, safety levers not engaged. | Check fuel level and freshness. Use correct starting procedure (choke/primer). Check spark plug. Ensure blade control lever is held against handle. |
| Engine runs poorly or stalls | Dirty air filter, old fuel, clogged fuel line, water in fuel. | Clean/replace air filter. Drain and replace with fresh fuel. Check fuel line. |
| Mower vibrates excessively | Damaged or unbalanced blade, loose parts. | Stop engine, disconnect spark plug. Inspect blade for damage, sharpen and balance. Tighten all bolts and nuts. |
| Uneven cutting | Wheels not at same height, bent blade, low engine speed, deck clogged. | Adjust all wheels to same height. Inspect and replace blade if bent. Mow at FAST throttle. Clean underside of deck. |
| Drive wheels do not engage | Drive cable loose or broken, drive control lever not functioning. | Check drive cable tension and connection. Adjust or replace if necessary. |
| Grass not discharging into collector | Deck clogged, grass too wet/long, collector full. | Clean deck. Mow when grass is dry. Cut in stages for long grass. Empty collector frequently. |
