Maintenance Schedule

Tools Needed:

  • Socket set (metric/standard)
  • Screwdrivers (flat and Phillips)
  • Torque wrench
  • Oil filter wrench
  • Air compressor
  • Spark plug socket

Regular Maintenance Procedures

  1. Pre-Operation Check: Inspect mower for loose bolts, damaged parts, and fluid leaks before each use.
  2. Oil Change: Change engine oil every 50 hours of operation or at beginning of each season.
  3. Air Filter Service: Clean air filter every 25 hours, replace every 100 hours or when damaged.
  4. Spark Plug Replacement: Replace spark plug every 100 hours or at beginning of each mowing season.
  5. Blade Sharpening: Sharpen mower blades every 25 hours for optimal cutting performance.
  6. Belt Inspection: Check drive and deck belts for wear every 50 hours, replace if cracked or worn.
  7. Hydraulic System: Check hydraulic fluid level monthly, change fluid every 300 hours.
Warning: Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing any maintenance. Wear appropriate safety equipment including gloves and eye protection.

Engine Service

Oil Change Procedure

Run engine for 5 minutes to warm oil. Disconnect spark plug. Place drain pan under oil drain plug. Remove plug and drain completely. Replace with manufacturer recommended oil.

Air Filter Service

Remove air filter cover. Clean pre-filter if equipped. Replace paper filter element. For foam filters, wash in warm soapy water, dry completely, and apply filter oil before reinstalling.

Spark Plug Maintenance

Remove spark plug wire. Clean area around plug. Remove plug with spark plug socket. Check gap (0.030"). Replace with recommended plug type. Torque to 18-22 ft-lbs.

Fuel System

Use fresh gasoline with ethanol content under 10%. Add fuel stabilizer for storage. Replace fuel filter annually. Clean fuel tank sediment bowl monthly during heavy use.

Cooling System

Keep cooling fins clean and free of debris. Check cooling air intake regularly. Ensure engine shroud is properly installed. Clean cylinder head fins with compressed air.

Battery Maintenance

Check battery terminals for corrosion monthly. Clean with baking soda solution if needed. Keep battery fully charged during storage. Test battery voltage regularly.

Troubleshooting
