Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures long life and optimal performance.

Before Each Use: Check engine oil level, tire pressure, and for loose hardware.

First 5 Hours: Change engine oil (break-in period).

Every 25 Hours: Check air filter, clean cooling fins, check blade condition and tightness.

Every 50 Hours: Change engine oil, clean/replace air filter, check spark plug.

Every 100 Hours: Change transmission fluid, replace spark plug, check belts for wear.

Seasonally: Sharpen or replace blades, lubricate all pivot points, check battery.

Cutting Deck Operation

For a clean, even cut, follow these guidelines.

  1. Height Adjustment: Set cutting height lever before starting engine. Match height to grass conditions.
  2. Engagement: Always engage PTO at full throttle in an open area.
  3. Cutting Pattern: Overlap each pass by 2-3 inches. Change pattern weekly to avoid ruts.
  4. Deck Cleaning: After use, disconnect spark plug and clean underside of deck to prevent grass buildup and corrosion.
  5. Blade Sharpening/Balancing: Remove blades with a socket wrench. Sharpen evenly and balance before reinstalling.

WARNING! Never attempt to clear the chute or work on the deck with the engine running or PTO engaged.

Storage & Winterization

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Fuel System: Add fuel stabilizer to tank, run engine for 5 minutes to circulate, or drain tank completely.
  2. Battery: Disconnect cables, clean terminals, store in a cool, dry place. Charge monthly.
  3. Engine: Change oil. Remove spark plug and add a teaspoon of oil into the cylinder, then pull starter cord slowly to coat internals.
  4. Deck & Undercarriage: Clean thoroughly and apply a light coat of oil to prevent rust.
  5. Storage Location: Store in a clean, dry place, preferably covered.

CAUTION! Gasoline is flammable. Perform fuel-related tasks in a well-ventilated area away from sparks or flames.
