Safety Precautions

Always follow safety procedures before servicing.

  1. Disconnect spark plug wire and battery before any service.
  2. Allow engine to cool completely before working near fuel system or exhaust.
  3. Use jack stands when lifting mower; never rely solely on hydraulic jack.
  4. Wear safety glasses and gloves when handling blades or hydraulic components.
  5. Work in a well-ventilated area when checking fuel or battery.

WARNING! Failure to follow safety precautions can result in serious injury or death. Always refer to the operator's manual for complete safety information.

Specifications

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

Before Each Use: Check tire pressure, inspect blades for damage, check for fluid leaks.

Every 8 Hours/ Daily: Clean deck underside, check engine oil level.

Every 50 Hours: Change engine oil, check air filter, grease fittings (6 points).

Every 100 Hours: Replace air filter, check spark plug, inspect drive belts.

Every 300 Hours: Change hydraulic fluid and filter, replace fuel filter.

Seasonally: Sharpen/replace blades, check battery charge, inspect spindles.

Engine Service

Access engine by removing side panels and seat.

  1. Oil Change: Run engine to warm oil. Drain via plug under engine. Refill with SAE 30 or 10W-30 (above 32°F) to full mark on dipstick.
  2. Air Filter: Remove cover, replace paper element. Clean foam pre-filter if equipped.
  3. Spark Plug: Disconnect wire, clean area, remove plug. Check gap (0.030 inch), replace if electrodes are worn.
  4. Fuel System: Replace inline fuel filter annually. Check fuel lines for cracks.
  5. Carburetor Adjustment: Refer to engine manual for idle and high-speed screw settings.

CAUTION! Do not over-tighten spark plug. Use torque wrench (18 ft-lbs).

Deck Service & Blade Replacement

Disconnect PTO and remove deck for major service.

  1. Lower deck to lowest setting, engage parking brake.
  2. Remove hairpin clips and washers from deck suspension arms.
  3. Slide deck forward and out from under mower.
  4. To replace blades: Block blade with wood, use 15/16" socket to remove bolt (left-hand thread on left side).
  5. Sharpen blades evenly; balance before reinstalling.
  6. Check spindle bearings for play; replace if noisy or loose.
  7. Reinstall deck, ensure proper alignment and belt tension.

WARNING! Always wear heavy gloves when handling blades. Ensure blades are balanced to prevent vibration.

Hydraulic System

The hydrostatic transmission requires periodic fluid changes.

  1. Fluid Change: Use jack stands to lift rear wheels. Place drain pan under pumps. Remove drain plugs from each pump and motor. Refill with Husqvarna Premium Hydro Fluid (approx. 3.5 quarts total).
  2. Belt Adjustment: Check drive belt tension; adjust idler pulley if belt slips.
  3. Purging Air: After service, run mower slowly forward/backward for 5 minutes to purge air from system.

Tip: Check for leaks at hose fittings. Use thread sealant designed for hydraulic systems.

Electrical System

12V system with key start and safety interlock switches.

  1. Battery: Check voltage (12.6V fully charged). Clean terminals, apply dielectric grease.
  2. Charging: Engine running, voltage at battery should be 13.5-14.5V.
  3. PTO Clutch: Test with multimeter; coil resistance should be 2.5-3.5 ohms.
  4. Safety Switches: Test seat, brake, and PTO switches for continuity when engaged/disengaged.
  5. Fuses: Check 20A fuse in wiring harness near battery.

Tire & Wheel Service

Maintain proper tire pressure for best traction and cut quality.

Pressures: Front 20 PSI, Rear 10 PSI (check sidewall for max).

Wheel Removal: Use jack stands. Remove lug nuts (3/4" socket). Inspect bearings; repack with grease annually.

Alignment: To adjust tracking, loosen jam nuts on tie rods behind lap bars. Turn rods equally to adjust.

Storage & Winterization

Prepare mower for extended storage.

  1. Add fuel stabilizer to tank, run engine 5 minutes to circulate.
  2. Change engine oil and filter.
  3. Remove battery, store on wood surface in cool, dry place. Charge monthly.
  4. Clean entire mower, especially deck underside.
  5. Store in dry location, preferably on blocks to relieve tire pressure.

CAUTION! Do not store with fuel in carburetor; run dry or use stabilizer.
