Engine Maintenance (Kawasaki FR691V)

Specific procedures for the Kawasaki FR series engine.

  2. Air Filter: Replace paper element and pre-cleaner as needed. Do not oil paper filter.

Tip: Use only Kawasaki genuine parts or equivalents meeting OEM specifications.

Deck Adjustment & Blade Care

Proper deck leveling ensures even cut and prevents scalping.

  1. Park on level surface, set cutting height to middle position.
  2. Measure distance from blade tip to ground at all four corners of deck.
  3. Adjust deck lift linkage to level front-to-back and side-to-side (1/8-inch tolerance).
  4. Blade Sharpening: Remove blades, sharpen at original angle (balance after sharpening).
  5. Blade Replacement: Torque blade bolts to 450-500 in-lbs (use thread locker).

WARNING! Disconnect spark plug wire before servicing blades. Wear heavy gloves.

Storage & Winterization

Prepare mower for extended storage (over 30 days).

  1. Clean entire mower, especially under deck.
  2. Change engine oil and filter.
  3. Add fuel stabilizer to tank, run engine 5 minutes to circulate.
  4. Disconnect battery negative cable; store battery in cool, dry place on charger.
