Assembly Instructions

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assembly requires basic tools (included).

  1. Attach Lower Handle: Bolt lower handle sections to deck using provided hardware.
  2. Attach Upper Handle: Connect upper handle to lower handle; secure with knobs.
  3. Install Grass Bag: Attach bag frame to rear brackets; hang bag.
  4. Install Side Discharge Chute: If using, attach to side discharge opening.
  5. Install Mulching Plug: For mulching, insert plug into rear discharge opening.
  6. Add Oil & Gas: Fill engine with SAE 30 oil (check dipstick). Add unleaded gasoline.

First-Time Setup

  1. Check Oil Level: Ensure oil is at full mark on dipstick.
  2. Add Fuel: Use fresh unleaded gasoline (87 octane or higher).
  3. Adjust Cutting Height: Set lever to desired position (middle setting recommended).
  4. Select Cutting Mode: Install bag, side chute, or mulching plug as needed.
  5. Test Start: Pull starter cord smoothly to start engine.

Controls and Operation

Handle Controls: Drive control bar (must be held to engage wheels), height adjustment lever, engine control lever.

Starting Procedure:

  1. Check oil and fuel levels.
  2. Move engine control lever to START position.
  3. Prime engine (if equipped) by pressing primer bulb 3 times.
  4. Pull starter cord briskly until engine starts.
  5. To engage self-propel (if equipped), squeeze drive control bar while walking.

Stopping: Release drive control bar, move engine control lever to STOP.

Cutting Height Adjustment

Single-lever adjustment for all four wheels.

  1. Stop engine and wait for blade to stop completely.
  2. Pull height adjustment lever toward wheel.
  3. Move lever to desired position (1-7, lowest to highest).
  4. Release lever to lock in position.
  5. Check that all wheels are at same height.

Tip: For first cut of season or overgrown grass, use highest setting, then lower gradually.
